The main objective of the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) is to enhance the quality of engineering & science education in the country by developing contents for undergraduate and postgraduate curricula using video and web based courses.

These courses cover the syllabi prescribed by universities and approved by AICTE. Course contents will be useful for teacher training and through them improve the quality of students. These courses can be used by professionals for updating their academic background.

NPTEL Online Certification Courses

NPTEL has been offering Open online courses along with certification since March 2014.  Through this online portal, 10hr, 20hr and 30hr courses of 4,8, and 12 weeks duration respectively in various engineering disciplines, sciences, humanities, management, architecture and research that includes relevant exposure to tools and technologies are currently being offered by NPTEL.

The objective of enabling students to obtain certificates from courses is to make students employable in the industry or pursue a suitable higher education programme.

NPTEL Local Chapter

It is a partnership between AIKTC and NPTEL. AIKTC has been approved as a NPTEL Local Chapter on __________, 2017.  AIKTC have 8 TB of NPTEL data which includes video and web courses available on intranet for students and staff as well.

NPTEL will keep the SPOC updated about all the latest NPTEL initiatives and give him information which he can disseminate among the students.  He can identify suitable mentors with concerned of HoD's for various courses, who can ensure that students are active in a course, are submitting their assignments on time and also clarify the doubts they may have.
