Best Practices @KRRC

THE LIBRARY PLAYS A VITAL ROLE AS A VALUABLE LEARNING RESOURCE, OFFERING EXCEPTIONAL SERVICES TO ITS USERS. IT HAS EMBRACED AUTOMATION THROUGH THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE INTEGRATED LIBRARY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (ILMS) AND LEVERAGES ICT TOOLS TO PROVIDE OUTSTANDING SERVICES THAT SERVE AS A BENCHMARK FOR OTHERS TO FOLLOW.

  • Library Website

The library website provides a comprehensive platform for users to access updated information on library hours, policies, resources, and services. It also offers convenient access to various eResources, the Institutional Repository, WebOPAC, and Library Social Networking sites, ensuring easy and efficient information retrieval. URL : https://aiktclibrary.org
  • Library Automation

Since its inception, the central library has employed an Integrated Library Management System (ILMS). The library initially implemented eGranthalaya in 2011 and subsequently upgraded to meet evolving needs. The latest ILMS, KOHA (v.16.11), is a fully featured and scalable Library Management System that is both free and open source.
  • Institutional Repository

The library established the Institutional Repository (IR) in 2013, making it accessible to the public in November 2014. The repository has gained visibility through automatic indexing by Google and Google Scholar. It is also indexed in other renowned repositories such as OpenDOAR, ROAR, ROARMAP, and Duraspace: Dspace User Registry.
  • Live Web OPAC

It is an online catalogue of KRRC holdings (Books, e-Books, Journals, Magazines and other resources). Users not only can search their resources through OPAC but also renew books, reserve books, create virtual shelves for their readings and suggest book purchases for the KRRC.  The OPAC is accessible both on-campus and off-campus. URL : http://opac.aiktclibrary.org:5000/
  • Remote Access Platform

The Central Library subscribes to the Electronic Resources through e-ShodhSindhu as well as from the Publishers. The Off-Campus Access service is provided to the academic fraternity of the AIKTC to seamlessly access from outside the Institute campus. Username and Password have been provided to all the library users to access the resources 24/7 through identity providers. URL : http://aiktclibrary.org/index.php/resources/offcamp.html
  • Automated/Integrated In-Out Management System

On January 2nd, 2019, the library introduced a digital In-Out Management System integrated with KOHA. The system offers a user-friendly interface and an admin dashboard for efficient management.
  • QR Code Service

Furthermore, the library actively supports the initiatives of the National Digital Library of India, under the Government of India. As part of this support, every book in the library is equipped with a QR code link, allowing users to access relevant digital content and resources associated with the book. This integration between physical and digital resources enhances the learning experience and facilitates seamless access to additional information and materials.
  • Orientation Programes

The library organizes various activities and events to cater to user needs. These include orientations for newcomers, book exhibitions-cum-sales, research sessions, thematic book displays, and celebrations of national and international observance days. The library also facilitates reading initiatives, seminars, workshops, and faculty development programs (FDPs) for both internal and external faculty members and library professionals. • KAAD - KRRC Article Abstract Database

An article abstract summarizes the entire article and describes its subject matter. It is useful since it gives you a brief summary of the article's content and can assist you in determining whether it will be helpful for your research. But always cite the entire article in your study, never the abstract. In one location, KRRC Arcticle Abstract Database (KAAD) offers articles with abstracts from several print periodicals that KRRC-Central Library has subscribed to.
