The Central Library guides faculty members, researchers, and students in understanding the quality and ranking of journals prior to manuscript submission. One of the important indicators of journal quality is the Journal Quartile Ranking (Q1–Q4).
What is a Journal Quartile?
Journal quartiles indicate the relative ranking of journals within a specific subject category:
- Q1 – Top 25% journals in the subject area
- Q2 – Journals ranked between 25% – 50%
- Q3 – Journals ranked between 50% – 75%
- Q4 – Journals ranked in the bottom 25%
Note: Quartile rankings are updated annually and may vary across different subject categories.
